Prayer Garden

For a long time, this was just a derelict plot behind the church.  However, one of our church family, Daniel, was studying horticulture and had the vision of developing the plot into a prayer garden; a quiet and peaceful place for people to come to and sense the peace and presence of God.  With the help of his grandfather John (one of our elders) he set to work, and on 28 August 2021 the garden was officially opened.  It is now featured on the website of the Quiet Garden Movement.

The garden includes mature trees, wild flowers, a herb garden and a fish pond. There is also a cairn housing rocks on which are written the fruit of the Spirit and a magnificent sculpture of “Praying Hands” that Daniel’s grandad recycled from wood salvaged from an old shed that was removed from the garden.

Daniel and his colleague Dave continue to lovingly care for the garden - something that surely pleases God, who commanded his first human creatures to do the same in the garden he had made (Genesis 2:15).

In the spring and summer, we often use the garden for outdoor events.  However, it is also open to anyone seeking a place to rest, reflect, read or pray.  Please phone first to check that it is open: 07866 551396.
