Who's Who at Newington

Newington Free Church has a leadership team comprising a minister, elders and deacons, who are chosen by and accountable to church members.

Robin Plant is the minister, having been formally inducted in February 2023.
John Verrall is our elder. He also created the praying hands sculpture in the praying garden.
Doreen Verrall is a deacon and along with John one of the longest serving members of the church.
Eileen Swain is our secretary and Safeguarding Trustee.
Phil Coles is our treasurer and also produces the monthly newsletter.

About the minister

Robin first came to Newington Free Church in 1977 as a teenager, and was an enthusiastic member of the Covenanter Bible Class. Later he worked as youth pastor in a baptist church in Stevenage and then as a bible teacher in Eastern Europe. From 2010-12 he was director of graduate studies at the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Osijek, Croatia.

Robin is married to Danielle. As well as pastoring the church, he also teaches English as a foreign language. He loves snakes, the Beatles, and drinking coffee.
